B9108053 (Assignment 4)

Assignment 4: The effects of an invention or innovation in modern life (3rd edition)

An invention of computers contributes to information revolution. Computers change human life completely, but today the Internet really effects our life(? ideas 與前面描述有衝突, because you use "but"). To me, the Internet makes my life easier. There are many advantages of the Internet. Here I will mention only two: to make communication more efficient and to get information more widely.

First, depend on (because of; due to) the speed of the Internet, people now can communicate with each other more efficient (adv.). The Internet provides many communicative channels for people, not only wordy (textual) but also audiovisual measures(modes). For example, email, MSN, chat room, online forums, and bloggers. Via email people can send or receive mail faster than the snailmail, so they can contact with family, friends, and classmates frequently. That’s really helpful for keeping relationship. By MSN or chat rooms people can make more new friends, even someone could find out their Mr. or Miss Right. And through the forums or bloggers people have more changes (chances) to express their opinions and receive variety of comments. Altogether, the Internet enlarges (widens) people’s relationship.

Getting the information more widely is another advantage of the Internet. Formerly someone said, “A scholar does not step outside his gate, yet he knows the happenings under the sun.” Today through the Internet everyone knows the happenings under the sun, do (by) not stepping outside. The Internet provides e-papers, e-messgazines, search engines, online databases, even the e-cyclopaedias. People just click the mouse and then thousands of information appears. Through the Internet people can acquire the information more easily. The students can finished their homework efficiently. A job hunter can finds the (a) new job faster. Generally speaking, the Internet extends people’s visions. In the Internet no one should be ”information illiteracy.”(I do not understand this part, please make it clearer). The Internet has many advantages, but it also causes many problems of our lives (delete). For example, in (on) the Internet our privacy almost disappears. Another (Besides), the Internet crime becomes more and more often(should use the structure "There are more and more..."). So, we must think about the drawbacks when we enjoy the convenience of the Internet.

In summary, having the Internet makes daily life more convenient. To me, the Internet is necessary (the necessity) of life, and you?(what about your?)

Assignment 4(2nd)- The Effects of an Invention or Innovation in Modern Life

We are born in the modern time, live in the modern life and enjoy all convenient things of the modern technology. It seems like a matter of course. But we all forget a thing that all convenient things come from the efforts of every (delete) specialists. And the luckiest thing is that we can use all the things in (for) good health. In fact, our health is also (?) maintained by the medical science. And the antibiotics perform in the (play an) important role of (in) medical science. Alexander Fleming is (past tense) an England (adj.) scientist that is (who was) the first one to discover penicillin that is one kind of antibiotics. He discovered the penicillin in 1928. It is (past tense) an accident that Alexander Fleming forgot to clean the container that is (past tense) used by the culture of germs (I do not understand this part, 細菌的文化?). Then, he fount (found) out an element that will (past tense) restrain the growing of germs. That is (past tense) penicillin. At that time, it was used to reduce inflammation of patients on (in) the World War two because of its distinction(? I do not understand this). Until now, it is (has been) widely used to treat the diseases that are caused by germs, such as a cold. That is an important turning point on (in) the medical science and a necessary (?) for everybody. Beside penicillin, we can find easily out(easily find out) many things around us which are also inventions that we use in modern life. Those all came from the efforts of inventers. We need to hold a respect and thankful mind to use them(We shoud be respectful and thankful in using them).

Assignment 4 The Effects of the Cellular Phones to Students ~ 1st draft

No one can deny that cellular phones have become a daily necessity to humankind. They have introduced us so much convenience and given us so many advantages. Even though most people have only been using them for less than 10 years, life without it would be unthinkable ("unimaginable" would sound more natural) . Despite of (delete) the fact, it still brought about for students like us some negative effects that we ought not to take them for granted.

One of the negative effects cell phones have brought is the expense of it, Maybe it is for conspicuous consumption, a lot of average Joes simply like to purchase the newest ones to show off. But honestly, it is pathetically ironic to see some juveniles boastfully holding up their 20-thousand-dollar-like very high-tech mobile phones, which combine numerous functions that neither do they actually need, nor do they know how to use.

Another bad influence from (of) the cell phones comes up with (from) the bills. Some people spend too much time on mobile phone talk. In that way their bills can be quite colossal. My younger brother, for instance, when he first time in love with a girl (felt in love with a girl the first time), he used mobile phone very often, only trying to enchant the girl he liked, This girl that (who) later became his girlfriend was incredible, so was the bill he received.

Aside from the aforementioned, cell phones could also be a distraction to us in class. Slinkingly playing fun games that are installed in the mobile phone is definitely a wrong way to ease boredom. Neither are checking your message box and answering the calls.
From these points of view, I think that mobile phones have become an addiction to some people and they are not even aware of it. It is high time for us to reconsider the position that cellular phones play in our daily lives. After all, we ought not to be bound by what we invented. Good conclusion!

Assignment 4 2nd edition The Effects of an Invention or Innovation in Modern Life

In modern life, many inventors invent new products to make our life progressive. The inventions are surprising (surprises) to us and bring a lot of convenience for us. They are not only good for human's life but also can be made a patent to earn money or to protect the (a)company's rights. They also trig (? inappropriate) other inventors' different ideas to modify products and then (so) we have greater products to use. I think that the effects of an invention is (複數) very gigantic. The inventions make our life different from the past years. For example, computers make our life convenient. When the teachers give us assignments, we can search a lot of resources very quickly. And we can analyze the resources to support our assignments. We can spend less time to do our homework and then we have more time to join other activities, like doing exercise, reading or listening to music and so on. We won't do things which are repeated over again and again. Besides the inventions bring convenience (structure, please rewrite this part), inventors can make money with them. Inventors can apply patents to protect their inventions. And then their rights are protected and the invention can't be copied to be sell(過去分詞). So inventors don't worry about their inventions are useless. For instance, IBM (International Business Machines) invent (過去式) a lot of inventions and apply (過去式) patents to protect itself and make money with them. It's a different way we never think about to earn money. The effects of an invention bring a lot of shocking to (would shock) us. We have to learn many new things all the time because many new inventions are invented. If we don't follow the current or spirit (? I do not understand this part), we'll be lost in the future

A9309028 (Assignment 4)

The Effects of an Invention or Innovation in Modern Life

Nowadays, hi-tech appliances and merchandize, such as computers, digital cameras, and webcams and so on, have created a wonderful convenient condition to (in) our modern life. Of course, advanced technology and novel inventions are keeping (delete) going forward to what we can’t imagine and changing our life styles gradually. The most important inventions in 21 century are computers and Internet which are like bombs blowing up the way, we lived originally (? do you mean "our original life?). Before the invention of the computers and the Internet, people always have (past tense) to write a real confirmed letter and send (past tense)to their business partners, but , now, what we have to do since the computer and the Internet have been created is just writing an E-mail attached with a copy. Moreover, we are able to chat by the computer and the Internet now by using certain software like “Skype". Such a useful and magic invention is able to make you easily communicate with your friends and relatives who are thousand miles away from you without any cost. Therefore, while this model (mode)of the communication have been popular, our life style, now, is absolutely different from what we used to be. Another invention which changed the way we get information is “google”, which is “entrance website(porter) responsible for searching some information by the keyword you require. In a rapidly growing world, people always eager to finish tasks and reach goals quickly. The more information you can get in short time the more you can succeed. Therefore, the google is created. Recently, almost everyone has the experience that we search some information by googling because the google offers a strong searching engine to find the information you want. Before that, we used to only learn by books but once there were no books and no time, we were unable to gain knowledge. However, now people have been starting to getting (get) useful information by "google". For instance, while I tend (do you mean "intend") to know a story about pyramid, I just type “pyramid” in the requiring (inquiry) box on the google and then millions of sites worldwide about pyramid just pop up immediately. By contrast, for the same purpose, I probably need to spend all day to find a book about pyramid. Hence, the google has changed the way of getting information in our modern life. As I said above (in the above), I believe that in the future there are more and more incredible inventions which out of your imagination will be created and spread out. Certainly, those gadgets will affect our life styles.

***Ideas are clear and rich. A well-organized and coherent work.

A9308023 (Assignment 4)

The Effects of an Invention or Innovation in Modern Life (Assignment 4-2 edition)

Life becomes more and more conveniences (形容詞) in recent ten years. so to speak that’s all attribute (This can be attributed) to the invention or innovation of technology, included (including) communication, computers and consumer electronic (? please rewrite this part).

The innovation of communication has a great jump (?) lately. Ten years ago, cell phones had big, and ugly appearances, cell phone (delete) and calling fees was (複數) very expensive, so it was not catholicize (do you mean "they were not popular"?) . But now in Taiwan, in average (almost) everyone has more than two cell phones and numbers from children to elders. You don’t need to pay any money for a cell phone if you have a contract to hold a number for 18 months or 2 years. Cell phoness will even replace telephones in the future. That would be very magically (形容詞). And by the Internet, we can use some about(?) MSN, Skype or e-mail to communicate with people. They made (現在式) communication speedy. The innovation of communication change the world’s step.

Consumer electronic invents a lot of new products (structure), like i-Pod, MP3 player, TV games, and Handheld Games. Our entertainments turn into plentiful (structure), in the past we need went (to go) outside to meet friends to played ( 原行動詞) games, now you only need to stay at home and but (?) something like XBOX, Gameboy or computers. By playins such interesting games, you would have fun, too. And you don’t need to carry a recorder around, you just need to hold (by hanging) a MP3 player on your chest, you can hear FM or songs without CDs. That’s really expediency (?). Life grow into more interesting (Do you mean "Life becomes more interesting).

Just like before I say ( what I said before), the invention of computers is the greatest invention in the world latterly (wrong word). At present we rely on computers deeply, included (including) work, knowledge finding (do you mean "information search"), shopping and even writing homework, it double-dye our life become quickly (? I do not understand this part). In the future we may do anything through computers, like studying, seeing a doctor, and confference (attending a conference). Computers also influence communication and consumer electronics they need (which need to be) combined with computers, or they would not advance so fast. We can say that 3C (communication, computers and consumer electronics) all owing to the invention of computers (I do not understand this part), so Bill Gates is the richest man around (in) the world. that’s why he could made so much money (delete).

3Cs change our living custom (habits), they made(現在式) our life more convenience(形容詞), and they deeply influence us. In the past we don’t need them and we also do anything well, but currently we can not live without them. Are (Do) they really improve our life or not? Anything has two dimension (aspects): good and bad, it depends on your notion to them (I do not understand this part, please rewrite it).

A9308009 (Assignment 4)

Assignment (4)The Effects of Invention or Innovation in Modern Life(2nd edition)

Along with the progress of the technology, our life has changed in many ways, for example, Internet, cellphone and nanotechnology. Not only do they offer us convenient (Noun) but also enhance quality of live (Noun) actually. However, many people get sick from (due to, because of) modern technology, for example, environment pollutions from new technology which destroys our health (delete). Therefore, they seem not always (do not always seem to be) positive effect (delete) to us. I will descript (spelling error) the different (delete) effects to us from (delete) of inventions or innovations on us in modern life as following (follows):

First of all, we are more efficient in our daily life due to...(please finish this sentence). For example, the invention of Internet changed our life deeply. We can study, do our job, chat and email by Internet, even we can shop on the Internet, we just need to choose what we like and key in the numbers of credit cards, and it can handle the deal automatically. Beside, we are convenient(grammar, please rewrite this part) by (because of) cellphones which be (複數) used popularly. We can communicate with others instantly by cellphone rather than looking for a telephone booth. There are so many advantages I can think of by using the cellphones.

Surely, there are some disadvantages of modern innovations, too. Owing to the convenience of technology, people do not contact each other in person so often as we used to be (delete), the relationships seems (原型動詞) not as close as we used to have. To tell the truth, some people do not even recognize their neighbors. Another problem is that the work opportunity is decreasing because of the machines (do you mean "machines replace human beings); we do not need so many workers nowadays. Besides, we could suffer a disease of (suffer from) the electric waves by telephone (do you mean "by frequently using the cellphones).

Furthermore, application of nanotechnology will have different effects to (on) us. It can be applied to everything, for example, clean of environment (? I do not understand this), national defense, and medicine. Actually, there are more and more household electrical appliances of nanotechnology which have different efficacy to disinfect (?). However, some products of nanotechnology can also destroy our body and environment, for example, makeup of nanotechnology may destroy our skin.

So, we can’t just enjoy the advantages of new technology, we still need to care for what the disadvantages are and how do cope with all the problems caused by them (good conclusion).

Assignment (3)Types of singers in Taiwan(2nd edition)

Music is a slower development in Taiwan than that in the western country. In Taiwan, We are less to (Chinese English, how about using "seldom") divide the styles of singers as the western country does, for example, rhythm and blues (R&B), rock, heavy metal, soul, hip hop, Latin American music. However, we also can (can also) observe the different types of singers along the times.

The beginnings of singers in Taiwan can be found (structure) in the 1960’s. By the 1960’s and early 1970’s, the well-know singers like Fong Fei-fei (Do you mean "One of the most representative singers in 6o's and 70's is Fong Fei-fei"?). She usually sung slow love songs, mainly sung in Mandarin. Theresa Teng was also a popular singer in Taiwan and China(which time period?). At about the same time, Jiang Hwei really took off, and mainly sung in Taiwanese. In the late 1970’s, campus singers also become more popular. They mainly were (were mainly) popular with (among) students and they were usually picking up guitars and writing (please use past tense) their own songs so that many students mimicked them singing with guitars. The lyrics express their feelings of deep emotion. the popular singer like Luo Ta-you and Lin Lung-hsuan (incomplelte sentence).

Taiwan’s record companies were getting rich by the early 1980’s, and they can (past tense) mould singers into pop stars. Furthermore, KTV’s development also can help them become famous with people rapidly (I don't quite get the idea). They usually focus on (sing) love songs. Many of (delete) the singers of the (this) period were (include) Ching-fang, Michelle Pan, Chyi Ching.

The singers became more distinctive style in the 1990’s ("Singers in the 90's started to develop their distictive styles") and they play (past tense) to (for) large audiences, and have (past tense) albums sales (sold) all over the Asia. (Wu Bai, May Day and FIR made rock music popular. Jay Chou, David Tao and Lee-hom Wang bring (brought) many different musical styles to Taiwan. They usually composed songs in written from themselves (???). Singers such as Jolin, A-mei and Yan-zi, they were not only idol singers, but also actually had strength and hold(delete) power. We also can (can also) see hip hop, rap singers like Machi and Mc hot dog (in which period of time?), they also became more popular with young person.)===>You should use some 連接詞 to make this part of discourse coherent.

***You have rich ideas for this writing. That's good. But some sentences are not complete; some have grammatical problems, and the most difficult part for the readers to read is the last part. Please reorganize it to make it better and more coherent.

Types of singers in Taiwan(第2版)

So far as (As far as) I am concerned, there are three types of singers here in Taiwan. Singers who have a gorgeous voice and be (plural) capable of singing are type one. Such as A-mai(阿妹), known as a world popular singer, is an aboriginal (structure). She is really a fascinating (inappropriate word) singer. Every one goes crazy about her including me. Secondly, singers may not have a ( an ) outstanding singing talent, then they must have a good looking face or super shape to attract their fans. For instance, a famous group called female F4(女F4) is one of the examples. Singers who don't have a good appearance or singing talent are what I called the last type. These kinds of singers need to try their best to entertain their audience. They make people laugh and have a good mood, like如花. And we will ignore their look and singing skills, but focusing (原形動詞) on their entertaining performance. All in all, I think those three different types of singers as I mentioned above are appeal (Ving, adj.) to me. I like them all!

***Your writing is fluent and organized. But if you can expand and elaborate on the ideas by providing more examples, that would be better!. You may also need to pay attention to the structural and grammatical problems.

Types of singers in Taiwan (2nd draft)

There are two types of singers in Taiwan, which (one refers to those who) are good at singing and the other refers to those who have a beautiful face in Taiwan (delete). Some singers have both advantages; some only have the (delete) one of the two advantages, and some have none of them. A famed (adj.) singer doesn’t mean that he or she has the two advantages at the same time. Because the songs which they sing have been polished up, we will feel that the songs are beautiful (I do not understand this). How come you mention the team singers in the following? Team singers have their characters (wrong word), for example SHE, 5566, etc. SHE is made up of three girls, one is low-pitched, one has sweet sound, and one is high-pitched. 5566 is made up of four men who are famous for a custom of Taiwan (What do you mean by this?). Jay is a male singer who gives me a deep impression. He sings his song(plural) with rap and inarticulacy. Some people say he is just like holding a meaty pellet in the mouth. Stefanie is a female singer whom I like. Because her songs are very suitable for me to sing, I like her. Jolin is a female singer, too. She sings very well and dances very gracefully. A-mei is a female singer and an aborigine who have (singular) a great sound. Everybody says aborigines are good at singing, because of their wonderful sound. In this paragraph, you have mentioned a lot of singers, but I do not see why they are related. You need explain their types and characteristis according to your classification in the very beginning.

Some singers are not only good at singing, but also have a pretty face, and dance very beautiful (adv.) such as Jolin. Some singers aren’t good at singing, but have a beautifully (adj.) face or good shape such as F4. Although, some singers don’t have a handsome or beautiful face but they are talent (adj.), sing and dance very well such as Jay. Every type of singers has their strong points and characters (rewrite it to make the ideas clearer).

***I am sorry that I have to say your writing is a little bit messy. You have clear classification in the beginning, but suddenly there come a lot of singers without mentioning which type they belong to. You really need to reorganize your writing.

B9309016

Assignment 3 ( 1st draft or 2nd draft?) - Types of singers in Taiwan

The Music market in Taiwan is very variety (diverse). The types of singers are (can be) classified according to their national (N.), numbers of group (single singer or group singers) and composing a song (whether they can compose or not).

The types of singers in the first category are their nationality (Singers of different nationalities enrich the musical market in Taiwan). They come from Republic of Singapore, Malaysia, Hong-Kong, local people (Taiwan) and China. Even though they come from many different countries, they almost use Chinese language to sing. The second category is (Singers can be) classified according to the numbers of a group. Most of the singer (plural) in Taiwan is (plural) single, but the group is also popular by people (delete) now. The last category is classified according to (refers to singers who can) compose a song. The singers have to have the nice voice and face in the early (Siners in the earlier time had to have a nice voice and face), but now it’s not enough. They not only have the basis conditions which said above but also have the writing talent (grammatical and structural problem, please rewrite this sentence). Part of (Some) singers here in Taiwan has the composition (composing) talent. Sometimes they can play ( ) piano by themselves and sing their own song (plural) in (at) the same time. By doing this, they have become a versatile singer. The singers have the (their own) characteristics in each category. For example, May Day is ( ) group, they are the (delete) Taiwanese and they can write the songs including pop, rock music, etc.

***You can recategorize the types of singers. The modifications that I made are just based on your original ideas. It can be made better. Besides, in addition to grammatical and structural problems, you need to form a habit of reading some English everyday to develop a sense of English. It is never to late to learn English, especially at your young age.

B9308038

2th (2nd) draft of Assignment3: Types of singers in Taiwan

In fact (? inappropriate phrase), the singers in Taiwan have no absolutely (adj.) positions, because some singers attend(參與? take part in) drama performance or program directors (directs shows or programs). However, if we give a definition about (try to define) singers in Taiwan, we could divide them into three types of singers (delete), such as composer of singers (singers as well as composers, or singers with composing talents), rock and roll bands, and ability of (competent) singers who have great voice.

The composers of singers (please rewrite this part) got a better chance to succeed in entertainment circle (showbiz) recently, such as Jay Chou, Leehom Wang, David Tao, etc. Jay Chou is my favorite idle, because he has wrote (過去分詞) much fantastic melody about Chinese ancient history, family relationship and sentiments in R&B or Rap way(good description). He said composing music expressed his emotion and hopes. Besides, Jay is an omni-singer, includes (including) being a composer, a Rock and Roll singer, and having ability in singing (capable of singing). This is why I admire him. However (inappropriate use of conjunction), Jay spread(inappropriate word) his music all over the world. I think that to be a composer of singers (a composer or singer? ideas are not clear) must distribute (傳遞? deliver?) their thoughts of music to audiences and to enhance Taiwanese’s musical style (what do you mean by this?).

Rock and roll bands could promote morale in our life. They are power and vigor bands (how about using "They are bands with power and vigor"), and the famous ones are May Day and Shin Band. May Day is a group to pursue their music dream (do you mean "a group formed for pursuing their musical dream?), and they always use the dialects language (delete) to sing up what do you mean by this?) their enthusiasm. Shin Band is an extreme musical group to bellow at a high pitch, and try to shout their conviction (do you mean "which always sing at a high pitch and shout out loud for their beliefs?). Moreover, they usually/always perform in super rock (where?) to drive audiences to be (delete) crazy.

The ability of (delete) singers who are good at singing and have a great voice bring us pleasing (pleasant) music to our ear (delete), such us A-mei, Yanzi-Sun, and Jolin. A-mei has a strong voice to perform sonorous style. Yanzi has a typical voice to express moving (touching) song (plural). Jolin sings in her feeling (I don't quite understand this) and always touch my heart. All over (delete) of them are the perfect singers in the entertainment circle, and they will express the music by their voice to touch us (how about change this into "by their touching voice").

Consequently, singers in the world not only bring us sweet sounds to listen (? ideas are not clear, sounds like Chinese English) but also give us much impression about entertainments in different period of our life (I really do not understand this). Moreover, music is the way to preserve our culture and to show our style. Music is also a memory to record our Taiwanese’s life. (good comments!)

***From your writing, I really can see the efforts that you put into it. You are also good in observation and analysis. However, due to the structural and grammatical problems, the ideas are not well-presented. Besides, you also need to pay attention to the choice of words. The use of an inappropriate word in a sentence may make the sentence totally unintelligible (無法被暸解).

B9215050

Types of singers in Taiwa(2nd edition)

In the very beginning, I declare that I do not know about the singers in Taiwan and the style of songs very well. Therefore, I will mention a few of singers who I only just remember. By the way, I know what I say may be nonsense to some people who know that quite clear (adv. or you can use "well"), and please do not mind. There are too many styles of songs and too many types of singers in the world, and I always separate them into three kinds: comfortable type, exciting type, and noise (adj., because you use adjectives to describe the previous two types) type. First, the singers of "comfortable type" always ease my pressure, and I will enjoy them any time I wanted (present tense). Thus, singers like Theresa Teng who passed away for many years and Ching-fang etc. will be classified into the comfortable type of singers. Second, the singers of exciting type who (delete) always make me feel so exciting (pp. 過去分詞). Any time when I want to play computer games or take exercises ( ) will hear them. Consequently (?), singers like Yan-zi, Jay Chou, and A-mei will be classified to this type. Finally, the singers of noise (adj.) type, and I always don’t want to hear them but the time when I am not stay (grammatical problem and ideas are not clear enough). Because this kind of music always make me feel restless, and I always can not calm down when I hear them. For example, the singer(plural) like Machi-Di-Di, MC hot dog will be classified to this type. In conclusion, there are too many singers and music in Taiwan, and it is not enough to classify them in three types by a layman like me. Moreover, most of Taiwan singers have multi-styles, and it is not possible just to distinguish them from parts of their works. So, we can just leave them to experts. (good comments!)

***Though your writing is not long, it is fluent enoough for the readers to catch your main ideas. However, you can make your writing better by focusing more on the main ideas and elaborating on them. Also pay attention to the grammatical problems.

B9215043

2nd draft of Assignment 3 Type of singer in TaiwanIn Taiwan

Album companies find a lot of singer (plural) everday ; however, the type between each other may be not same (what do you mean by this?). In my opinion, we can distnguish (divide) Taiwn singer (plural) type (delete) into three parts (types), Creation, Strength and Icon.

For the type of Creation, these (this) kind of singer (plural) can create melody or lyrics of song (P) and good at singing, such as Chris(Hung-Ming Yo) , he has been a singer more than ten years ago (delete) in Taiwan and has been created all songs of (for) his albums since he began a singer (delete, because it sounds wordy). If a singer can issue his album continuously more than five years in Taiwan, he must ( ) a great singer; therefore, it represent (第三人稱且單數, I think "demonstrates" will convey what you mean here) how excellent is Chris (Chris is). And for the type of Strength, these (this) kind of singer (P) may be (maybe) can't create songs, but they can sing very well. They can make a wonderful interpretation of the songs and let people be addicted to their voice (good sentence). A-mei is a good singer in person of Strength (rewrite this part to make your ideas clearer). She can influence listener's (listeners') emotion when she is singing. For the other one, I really disdain this type of singer (P). They only have good looking to attract some one-dimensional (Ah!? What is this?) people; moreorver, they even can't sing the (a) song. Although this type of singer (P), such as 5566, K-one, 183-club, is so bad and offensive (what do you mean by this word?), they still have a great amount of fans who are mostly junior high school student (P) in the great part of (delete). In summary, these three type (P) of singer (P) is (are) main parts in Taiwan (do you mean they represent the majority of singers in Taiwan?).

*** Classfications are clear to understand. However, from you writing, you can obviouly see that you have "plural" problme. Along with it, some ideas are not well-elaboraed and the use of inappropriate words make the readers confused about what you mean.

B9215012

Assignment 3(second draft):Types of singers in Taiwan

There are so many types of music such as Classical , Blues , Rock , Pop , Folk , Jazz and Hip Hop, etc; however , only some of them are popular in Taiwan. Maybe , we could classify most of the singers , in Taiwan , into four types : Rock singer , Hip Hop singer , Pop singer and Folk singer. These are the four popular types of singers in Taiwan.

Rock singers prefer playing very loud rock music and singing so loud (adv.). They really like to play their instruments at full volume , because it is their main characteristic. For example , Wu Bai is a representative Rock singer in Taiwan. There are a lot of people love his style of singing and support his music. On the other hand , Hip Hop singers also like to play their music so loud (adv.) , but it is not louder than Rock music. The main style of Hip Hop singers is that they usually sing the types of music which have very fast tempo. For instance , Machi is a very famous Hip Hop group in Taiwan. Hip Hop singers rise and develop so fast (adv.) recently , and they are very popular with(among)teenagers in Taiwan. Pop singers are the most popular than (compared to) any types of singers in Taiwan , because over half of singers are Pop singers. Owing to this reason , most of the famous singers stars (delete) are Pop singers. Pop music are the most popular with everybody in Taiwan , because TV and radio broadcast Pop music all the time . Therefore , people are used to listen (Ving) to Pop music and like them. For example , Jay and Jolin are both the very famous Pop singers in Taiwan. (Here you can add a connector, phrase, or adv. to make it more coherent, ex. "Different from the above three types of music") Folk music could be called native music , because it could represent native cultures and lives. There are few Folk singers in Taiwan , because only some of specific (delete) people like them such as older and middle-aged people. Most of the teenagers don’t (in formal writing we always use "do not") like to listen to this type of music. However , Folk music is very valuable , so we should thank for Folk singers to help us reserve them. For instance , Tsai Chin is a representative Folk singer in Taiwan.

There are four different types of singers in Taiwan , and all of them have their own supporters. In general , you will have quite different feelings when you listen to the four different kinds of music. For example , you will feel so high or excited when you listen to Rock or Hip Hop , or you will feel relax (adj.) or happy when you listen to Pop or Folk. In conclusion , different types of singers will give you quite different feeling (plural) when you listen to their music or see their live shows.

***Good organization and ideas are clear. It is good that you use some examples to support your viewpoints. However, please pay attention to some grammatical problems in your writing.

Assignment 3 (2nd draft): Types of Singers in Taiwan

The type of singers in Taiwan is hard to be assorted. Singers all don’t hope to be set (Chinese English). They try to contact with the different channels (what do mean by this? Ideas are not clear). I categorize them intocompositional (singers as well as composers)”, “competent”, and “others” approximately.

At first, “compositional (singers as well as composers” means that they are able to compose a melody or write words for a song. “王力宏” is one of the compositional faction (建議改成 "the typical singers who can sing as well as compose at the same time) in Taiwan. and others are (建議改成 "This category also include")“周杰倫”, “徐若瑄”, “陶喆” ,”伍佰”, and so on. The forward examples I introduce (How about change this into "The ones that I just mentioned") are more famous for their ability (the most famous ones). Some of them (singers) are not good at composing or writing (delete), but they put in time and effort (How aobut change this into "have spent their time and efforts for it"), such as “哈林”,and ”伊能靜.

Second, “competent” means that they have a good ear and bravura for music. “孫燕姿”, “蔡依林”, “李玟” are all competent faction (do you mean "all belong to this category"?).

Finally, “others includes (inclucde) many factions (inappropriate word) that are like “superficial”, “child-educated”, “corporate”, and so forth (I don't quite understand this, would you please rewrite this sentence?). “Superficial” means that they have a beautiful face, such as “楊丞琳” ,and “王心凌". “Child-educated”(?) means that they sing the songs that are meaninglessness (delete) for children, such as “阿雅”, and“水蜜桃姊姊”. “Corporate”(?) is new current (do you mean " a trend"?) recently. It is made up more than one. For example, some of them are “5566”, “K-ONE”, “七朵花”,and “SWEETY”. More and more singers wouldn’t like to be just a singer (do you mean" are not just satisfied with being a singer"?), they want to write words (lyrics) for a song, composing(原型動詞) a melody, play a drama, and write the (a) book that are about another skill except sing (ideas are not clear, would you please rewrite this part?).

***You have lots of good ideas, but your knowledge of grammar and sentence structure do not enable you to fully present your viewpoints. Please try to read more and develop a sense of what English sounds like. It is never too late to learn a thing, especially at your young age.

Assingment 3(2nd draft) types of singers in Taiwan

I like listening to music very much. If I sit down in front of my desk I will turn on sound(?) and listen ( ) ( ) every day. I think types of (delete) singers are (how about change it into "can be") divided into four types inTaiwan. They are pop music, out-of-fashion, R&B, and Rock.

Pop music is my favorite types of music. If anyone singes who have a new albumI will listening (Who? and grammatical problem) right away such as Jolin and so forth. Out –of-fashion means older music or singers. those (These) singers may sing mother-tongue or out of fashion songs. For example, 謝金燕,陳盈潔, and so on. The most famous R&B singers (單數) is Jay. he is very popular in his fist (spelling) album until now (grammatical problem, please rewrite this sentence). His music (adj.) style all familiar with each song but they are very good listening (Chinese English, please rewrite this sentence). May day is the Rock Band that I am like it in all types of Rock singers (Chinese English, rewrite it please). They always give their passion for the audience. They love their songs and bring the happiness (to the audience?). I like to listen to all kinds of types of (delete) music. No matter who is she or he (she or he is), if I think (delete) the songs are good for listening, I will accept ( ). I think different kinds of singers will bringpeople different feelings.

***Your writing sounds quite Chinese English and you have serious mechanics problems (拼字, 標點, 句點, 句與句之間空格, 等等). Besides, try to think about using conjunctions (連接詞) to make your writing sound coherent (順暢).

Assignment 3 : Types of singer in Taiwan (2nd edition)
Types of singer in Taiwan (2nd edition)

Every singer has his or her time(good sentence). In Taiwan, I found that the singers could be divided into 4 groups by their popular periods: (1) the singers who sing the slow love songs; (2) the singers who sing the campus songs; (3) the singers who sing the love songs; and (4) the singers who sing the R&B or Rap.

The first category consists of the singers who caught on (were popular) in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. They presented the love songs by their musical singing voice (有點怪怪的, how about using "beautiful voice") and slow tempo. A good example of a singer who sung the slow love song was 鄧麗君, every (the) audience were enchanted by her sweet and harmonic voice. Till now, many people still miss and favor these singers in the 1960’s and early 1970’s.

The second group consists of the singers who sung or composed the campus songs and caught on in the mid-1970. These singers always played their guitar and composed the songs about the love, country, mood, and the weather. Moreover, the majority of them were young, so the songs they composed were airy and alacritous. Today people are still familiar with some of them and their songs. For example, 羅大佑, 蔡琴, and 潘安邦, they are all brilliant and impressive.

The next category consists of the singers who caught on in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They focused on the love songs, and the songs often sung (delete) were a little faster than the first category. Unlike the singers of the campus songs, the singers in 1970’s and 1980’s didn’t compose the songs. Their songs are different form those of the singers before the 1980’s, and are heard more and sung more in the KTV. The well known pop singer (plural) at this time was (plural) 張清芳, 莫文蔚, 王菲, and 阿妹.

The last group consists of the singers who sing the R&B, and Rap. These singers have caught on (or "have been popular) since 2000’s, and today many young people favor their songs very much. They accentuate their character(plural), and aim for showing themselves. Having self-(distinct personal) style is one of the features of these singers. Young people often feel that they are so cool, different, and charming. That’s why they are popular today. The example(plural) of these singers are: 周杰倫, 陶喆, and 王力宏. At different time has different pop singers (Chinese English, should use the structure of "There are..."), but the same thing is that all of them enrich our life, doesn’t it?

***The organization for this writing is good. Ideas are clear and elaborated. A better work than your prevous assignments. But try to pay attention to some Chinese way of writing.

Assignment 3(2nd)- whose songs is the most popular in the KTV?

Music is always a pop culture during (among) the young. What is the latest album of some singer(plural) or a new song is very great are the talking points (chatting topics) that never stop between the (delete) friends. Especially, when singing in the KTV has become a popular entertainment for the young people, it makes them take the notice of songs and singers. They find out what kind of songs is easy to sing and whose songs suit their tone by taking the notice of them (can be deleted cause sounds wordy). And what types of sings' (spelling) song (plural) is (are) the most popular ones in the KTV? Let’s talk about it in my option (ideas are not clear).

I think singers usually have their own style of songs. There are two types- Mainstream and Alternative music from the style of singer’s songs (sounds wordy). The latter usually have less sale volumes (?) and more different content, except about romance than the former. Some aboriginal singers in Taiwan, such as Biung (王宏恩), belong to Alternative music. He always plays the guitar singing the songs of Bunun Tribe (布農族) by his way. When listen (grammar) his songs, listeners could (can) have a new feeling about nature and the aboriginal culture. Alternative music usually caters to specialized customers so it usually is (is usually)missed by the young. That is also why alternative music is not very popular in the KTV.

On the other hand, mainstream music is popular in the KTV these days. And it can be easily divided into three groups- Hip Hop, Rock and Lyric Music in Taiwan. The singers of Hip Hop have very few people in Taiwan (There are not many...), such as Ma Ji Brother (麻吉弟弟).
And (On the contrary), the singers of Rock have more than Hip Hop, for instance, there are May Day (五月天)、Five Hundred (伍佰) (please rewrite this sentence to make it more coherent). The two kinds of singers usually have rapid tempo and make the atmosphere hot and high. Those songs are very suitable to warm up singing in the KTV because of that reason.

The other singers except the two kinds (structue) are Lyric singers. The cantus usually are very similar and very easy to sing. The types (This type) of singers also use brisk or light rhythm and toughing voice to sing to move listeners’ hearts, above all, some persons had the same situation as like as the words of songs (structure, grammar, and ideas are not clear). And that is why it is the most popular songs in the KTV.

***You have rich ideas but there are also some grammatical and structural problems in your writing. Please keep cultivating the good ideas and pay attention to the form of your English. Ex. "could have" means that "本來可以, 但是因為...而不能."

Asignment 3:Types of singers in Taiwan

For the past few years, a great many varieties of music genres, such as hip-hop, soul music, R&B, and other new forms of music have been adopted by the audiences. Alone with it, the rapid proliferation of singers has grown amazingly, as if anyone who was just singing at the KTV with his crowd last night can be right on the stage tomorrow. Basically, singers in Taiwan, regardless of the genres of their music, roughly can be sorted into three groups: those that (who are) so-called megastars, those who enjoy less fame, and those that (who) are not so familiar to the audiences.

The megastars are veterans that have lasted in the showbiz for a long period of time. They have developed specialties of their own, not fearing to be influenced by the mainstream, as a matter of fact, they sometimes lead it. Coco Lee, for instance, is the certain singer with very powerful and mindblowing voice, who has gained international recognition by her performance at the Academy Award, 2001. She already has firmly established a substantial number of fans. Despite her present pause, they still look forward to receiving her next hit.

Singers at the second position are the ones that worth most observation. If lucky and hardworking enough, they get good result in selling CDs, popping into the mainstream and being embraced by the crowd. If not, they usually end up fading away without attention and heart-broken. Jay Chou, a R&B wunderkind* now amazingly popular in Taiwan, is a typical and rather successful singer in this group. Not only dose he have the gift of singing, he usually writes and composes songs on his own. In addition, his music, alone with his new movies, is introduced outside Taiwan, broadcast in the mainland China, Singapore and Malaysia. Step by step, he is elevating to the level of megastars.

The last group is singers that have not yet shown up on the real stages, including under training rookies, underground bands, or part-time restaurant singers. They may be talented in music, but little famous; therefore, they have to spare no effort impressing people( audiences in the training agencies, night clubs or restaurants) just for the same goal – publishing their own music. It is the most fundamental and realistic way to being (be) a singer, the typical example of youngsters now in Taiwan pursuing fame.

It goes without saying that music is an essential amusement of human life. It can bring us joy, remove our sorrow, and sometimes even heal us mentally and physically. I am willing to see new singers as well as uncharted music forms coming out, providing us new choices of recreation and making our life more fun.

Assignment 3: Types of Singers in Taiwan (2nd edtion)

The types of singers in Taiwan can be divided into pop singers and old-song singers. Nowadays, pop singers are created day by day. Each of them can sing, dance, take charge of a show, and even perform a character in a soap drama. Seriously, I think there are a lot of people can do those things very well, too. If the singers don’t really have something to amaze people, they would be forgotten soon. One of the talents of singers that I admire most is creativity. I respect the singers who sing the songs which are written by themselves. I want to introduce “Wubai and China Blue” here. At first, Wubai sang Taiwanese songs and got no body’s attention. Then, he started to compose Mandarin songs and worked with the band named China Blue. They fascinated every boy and girl no matter they are young or old. Wubai has his charming personal character and his music fits everyone’s tempo. Now they are greater than popular but they are still trying to create something new for their fans. It's a good sample (example) for pop singers.

The other type of singers in Taiwan is old-song singers. The age of the old-song singers may be older than our parents but some of the young singers start to sing these old songs. There is an old saying:“The old songs are like wine. The older, the better.” I agree with it because a lot of old singers keep issuing their best collections and more and more young singers sing the old songs in their records. Pop songs give us passion and old songs give us memories. I believe that in the future, pop song singers would be more diversified and old-song singers would never fade away.

***Ideas are rich and coherent.
Good organization and fluent writing.

Assignment (3):Types of singers in Taiwan -second draft

Taiwan is a colorful (multicultural) socity; therefore, we have a diversity of singers. Some singers are growing (過去分詞) up in Taiwan, some singers are coming from other contries, and some singers are aborigines in Taiwan. Because they come from different contries (cultures and backgrounds), they's (grammar) performances can more diversified (grmmar). I sort the types of singers in Taiwan by their performance styles. Singers separate into three parts (grammar)- creative singers, capable (inappropriate word) singers, and “Taiwan” singers(台客) in Taiwan . Every type of singers in Taiwan has possession of a very important state (grammar).

Allow me (informal) to introduce the creative singers at first. They creative (V.) the songs which are belong (grammar) to themselves. For example, Lee Hom Wang, and Jay Chou are fantastic singers. Their music is a fusion of several different styles of music such as oriental music and occidental music. They are elaborated innocently (ideas are not clear) in their music. Their success began (inapproprate word) their complete absorption in creative (grammatical problem and ideas are not clear). By the way(inapproriate 連接詞), their songs are excellent.

( ) second type of singers in Taiwan is capable (IW) singers. The (This) types of singers can sing and dance and push the bonhomie forward in live (? ideas are not clear). For instance, A-mei and Jolin have high-level performance in their concerts. When you are in their concert, you can have a fantastic feeling. They don't off-key or forget the librettos. The most important thing for their success is that they are hard workers. They always learn new things for letting (to let) their fans can (delete) feel their different exhibition (IW). I commended (wrong word) their show (plural) for you.

( ) third type of singers in Taiwan is “Taiwan” singers who are the freshest form singer groups (grammar) now. For instance, Hot-dog, 張震嶽 and so on. Their style (plural) is copy other styles (what do you mean by this?) and you can distinguish them by their accent (plural). In the first time, the group was cheapened by community (which group and what do you mean by this?). However, their song (delete) style (plural) can be accepted now and lift up their state grammar). They were professed that we have to assurance to face anything (grammatical problems and ideas are not clear). I am “Tai” so what? If anyone says we are “Tai”, we also can (can also) have assurance (ideas are not clear). In fact, “Taiwan” singers are not all negative; you can learn something from their spirit such as never giving up. No matter what types of singers they are, they have their own supporting fans. Fans have to understand to esteem others (grammar and ideas are not complete). That is a very important thing among all fans. Their behaviors like democracy made our admiration (grammar).

***
1. You have a bundle of rich ideas; however, it is a pity that there are lots of grammatical problems in your writing.
2. Please elaborate on (仔細說明) the meaning of "Tsai" in English.

Assignment 3 2nd edition Types of singers in Taiwan

There are many types of singers in Taiwan. Owing to this, we can know more about the music style (建議用 music 一字即可) and listen to different music style (plural). I divide into three parts of them(grammar) : hip-hop, rock and ballad. The most popular type of music in Taiwan is hip-hop. For example, Jay Chou is the sample of them(sample 通常指物件). He is one of the famous singers in Taiwan. He plays music on his way and resist it(? ideas are not clear). He doesn't care about others' eyesight (inappropriate word) and do it (do what?) by himself. Although I don't really like him, I still think he has his thought to contribute different kind of music to let me know this style of music (structure and ideas). Many companies find that this type ( ) music to become (grammar) famous, so many singers follow this type. They sing very quickly and unclear (ideas are not clear, do you mean the tempo of their music is quick and vague?). If we don't have lyrics at hand, we can't understand what they sing. I think that many audiences just like the music not the lyrics' true meaning (ideas are not clear).

Another type of music in Taiwan is rock music. Wu-bai is the best sample (inappropriate word). His music has strong tempo. This is the characteristics of the music. They use drums or something else to make enough feelings (ideas?). The listeners will feel excited just because its tempo. It makes you release your pressure and forget something which make you sad. Sometimes I think my tympanum will be broken. The voice should be strong enough to shock the audience.

The other type which I divide (the third type of music) is ballad. This kind of singers were famous about ten or fifteen years ago. Most old persons in Taiwan like it (what?) very much. Old persons think they can understand the meanings of the songs and they are easy to sing. Slow tempo can be heard easily (meaning?). They also make listeners feel comfortable because soft music make the life step down (slow down?). For example, Judy Jiang, ...(try to finish this sentence). Many people like her voice and buy her records to support her. She won several awards. In modern life, everyone is too busy to relax themselves. They choose what they want to listen to. Usually, the lyrics provide imaging (inappropriate word) space. But I think the lyricss provide over (IW, do you mean "too many") love stories. Maybe it will be changed in our (the) future.

In Taiwan, there are still many types ( )singers. But I consider (think) many singers are too familiar (do you mean 類似?) to play their own style (delete) music. Over apish (inappropriate words)makes audiences feel bored. They don't like ( ) listen ( ) the same things from different people. They hope to hear different style ( ) music around the globe.(According to classmates' comments, I have modified some points.)

***You have a bundle of good ideas but it is a pity that sometimes the ideas are not clear to the readers due to the wrong grammatical and structural problems. Please reread your writing and try to elaborate on the ideas that seems vague to the readers, O.K.?

A9309028

Assignment Three 2nd EditionTypes of singers in Taiwan

In the multicultural country, Taiwan, there are many types of music performed by different types of singers. Some of them compose the rock music while others love the Eastern hip hop and traditional Chinese songs. Roughly, I classify all Taiwanese singers into three types: pop, tradition, rock.

Firstly, pop singers dominate the major fashionable(主流?) music maket(spelling). About eight out of ten of them are singing the love songs. Like a singer called Jay, he is not only a typical pop singer, but also a composer and producer. He used to play typical love songs, but now he has started playing the Chinese hip hop music which combined(present tense) some Chinese traditional elements like Chinese guitar and opera, so that his album represents many i nteresting rhyme and rap which is rarely performed by western singers. I think he has made a difference from those powerful countries which dominate the major global music markets. Jay is one of the representatives of Taiwanese pop singers.

Secondly, the traditional singers are usually singing the traditional Taiwanese songs which often show sadness due to the history of Taiwan. The most famous singer in this type of music is Judy Jiang, who won the “Best Taiwanese Female Singer” several times. The young Taiwanese-song singer said “ we won’t have any chance to win, if Miss. Jiang doesn't retire." In the market of traditional songs, because of Jiang’s experience in her childhood, her voice is more“sophisticated“, which means you are easily touched by her songs, described by the senior producer and audience (structure). Undoubtedly, She is a powerful Taiwanese traditional female singer.

Thirdly, the rock singers have been popular for many years who take the second place of Taiwanese music market since a famous band call“May Day” who blew up the trend of rock and represented the spirit of rock(structure). Why they are so famous is because they performd in the debut as a student-image group, so that lots of female young students were crazy able(spelling) them. The way to their success(ideas are not clear enough, do you mean "their skyrocketing way of success"?) was just like driving a car on a highway that time(?). Hence, the rock music has been attractive to people since that time.

To sum up, although, there are still many types of singers in Taiwan, those types I have described are almost the most important and effective(inappopriate word). However, music is a way of life. Don't just listen what you are supposed to listen to. Try to enjoy all kinds of music now.

Lee, Jong-Wei's Compare & Contrast

[It is obvious that living in the dormitory or living at home] (incomplete sentence). I prefer the latter. Now, I am a student and live at ( ) school dorm. [But(wrong 連接詞) Home gives me the idea that I always feel free、easy and much more comfortable than dorm](doesn't sound like English). Furthermore, I enjoy the time to get together with my family. [Although, it is quiet a long distance from our home to school] (incomplete sentence). I need to commute everyday. Still, I would choose to live with my family. On the other hand, living in the dorm would definitely be another different experience for a person who used to live at home like me. So far as I know, school dorm is cheap and being with my roommate (plural) will have a lot of fun,of course. Often times (delete) we will go to night market(plural) for dinner or (delete) to Taipei zoo by MRT or just hanging around Taipei after school. And I took a lot of lovely pictures with them. I will never think of those pictures without thinking of my dear friends. All in all, Home or dorm?Well, I love ( ) ( ) home a little bit more.

Hsie, Yu-chi 's Compare & Contrast

In my opinion, I think it can be focused on two subject (inappropriate word),freedom and convenience , to compare and contrast living ( ) home and living in the dormitory. For freedom, If you live home, you will be restricted to a lot of things ,such as entrance (IW) time or study time ; Therefore, your time isn’t controlled by yourself. In contrast, If you live in the dorm, you can manage your time more flexible (adv.). For the other subject (IW), iving ( )home is more convenient than living in the dormitory in daily life. You needn’t worry about something like eating, washing clothes when you live home; However, living in the dormitory is also more convenient than living home in other ways. For example, If you have some problem (plural) in school work, you can discuss it (plural) with your roommate (plural) when you live in the dormitory. [The same situation for living home] (structure), your parent (plural) can’t solve your problem(plural) unless they are teacher (plural) in the field which you studied. Both of living ( ) home and ( ) dorm are (delete) have some advantages and disadvantages.
