Assignment 4: The effects of an invention or innovation in modern life (3rd edition)

An invention of computers contributes to information revolution. Computers change human life completely, but today the Internet really effects our life(? ideas 與前面描述有衝突, because you use "but"). To me, the Internet makes my life easier. There are many advantages of the Internet. Here I will mention only two: to make communication more efficient and to get information more widely.

First, depend on (because of; due to) the speed of the Internet, people now can communicate with each other more efficient (adv.). The Internet provides many communicative channels for people, not only wordy (textual) but also audiovisual measures(modes). For example, email, MSN, chat room, online forums, and bloggers. Via email people can send or receive mail faster than the snailmail, so they can contact with family, friends, and classmates frequently. That’s really helpful for keeping relationship. By MSN or chat rooms people can make more new friends, even someone could find out their Mr. or Miss Right. And through the forums or bloggers people have more changes (chances) to express their opinions and receive variety of comments. Altogether, the Internet enlarges (widens) people’s relationship.

Getting the information more widely is another advantage of the Internet. Formerly someone said, “A scholar does not step outside his gate, yet he knows the happenings under the sun.” Today through the Internet everyone knows the happenings under the sun, do (by) not stepping outside. The Internet provides e-papers, e-messgazines, search engines, online databases, even the e-cyclopaedias. People just click the mouse and then thousands of information appears. Through the Internet people can acquire the information more easily. The students can finished their homework efficiently. A job hunter can finds the (a) new job faster. Generally speaking, the Internet extends people’s visions. In the Internet no one should be ”information illiteracy.”(I do not understand this part, please make it clearer). The Internet has many advantages, but it also causes many problems of our lives (delete). For example, in (on) the Internet our privacy almost disappears. Another (Besides), the Internet crime becomes more and more often(should use the structure "There are more and more..."). So, we must think about the drawbacks when we enjoy the convenience of the Internet.

In summary, having the Internet makes daily life more convenient. To me, the Internet is necessary (the necessity) of life, and you?(what about your?)
